Most parents or caretakers wonder whether their child needs an eye exam. Vision screenings performed by school nurses are not as complete as a comprehensive eye exam performed by an optometrist. It is highly recommended that your child have their first exam at least by the age of 3. By identifying your child’s vision problems early, your child will have greater success with treatment. If left untreated, some eye conditions and diseases may stunt visual development and cause visual impairment.
Eye examinations are recommended annually for children and are covered by the BC Medical Services Plan.
